Kristen Kolenz Receives 2018-2019 Presidential Fellowship

PhD Candidate Kristen Kolenz

WGSS Ph.D. Candidate Kristen Kolenz was recently awarded a 2018-2019 Presidential Fellowship!

The Presidential Fellowship, offered to graduates during the spring and fall of each year, is the most prestigious award given to students by The Ohio State University Graduate School. The fellowship provides financial support for students in their research, and is awarded to up to 15 nominated doctoral candidates throughout all of the university each semester who show outstanding scholarship.

Advised by Professor Guisela Latorre, Kristen's current research involves exploring identity and art in Latin America. Throughout the academic year, she teaches courses such as “U.S. Women Writers: Text and Context” and “Introduction to Queer Studies,” and will be teaching the special topics course “Exploring Activisms in the Americas” (WGSST 3200) in the spring. Additionally, she teaches sex education to students with the department’s sex ed program during the year, continues to be a key player in implementing and assisting instructors with online teaching, and creating accessible resources and information about WGSS’ undergraduate courses.

Congratulations to Kristen on this amazing accomplishment and all of her work thus far!
