Research Funding and Support

It is important to scope out your funding plan as you prepare your prospectus especially with respect to deadlines, available sources, and restrictions. Your faculty advisor can help you determine what type of funding is appropriate for your research project but we have also collected a variety of university and external grant programs that have funded several WGSS graduate dissertation and theses projects. 

Each grant, whether internal or external, have different restrictions on how the funding is disseminated and tracked. Amber Williams is available to answer questions about grant rules and restrictions particularly for internal grants. 

In addition, if your fieldwork involved human subjects, you'll want to consult with the Office of Responsible Research Practices to learn about the federal rules and applications for having your proposals reviewed and approved. They also have resources on measures for keeping your data secure and related expenses documented.
