The Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies encourages students to become involved with WGSS, campus, and local organizations and initiatives to help extend the Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies message outside the classroom. Ohio State University is home to a wide range of student groups concerned with issues of gender, sexuality, and social justice. Columbus, Ohio is also home to many excellent nonprofit agencies where students can conduct internships for a quarter or volunteer for a good cause. Undergraduate students are also encouraged to contact ASC Career Success to explore experiential learning opportunities such as internships, volunteer positions, or off-campus research positions related to Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

National Black Justice Coalition - The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to empowering Black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network - The nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization and was named one of "America's 100 Best Charities" by Worth magazine. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800. 656.HOPE, online.rainn.org y rainn.org/es) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
