Jaclyn Serpico is a fourth-year History and Sexuality Studies major currently interning with Planned Parenthood. During the fall semester, she worked with the Education department, assisting with sex education programs in schools and outreach events such as health fairs. She had the opportunity to learn how Planned Parenthood structures a sex-positive, wellness-focused sex education program for students middle school-aged through college. This semester she will be switching into the advocacy department, to get a full experience with both branches of Planned Parenthood. Here, she hopes to gain a better understanding of how to effectively advocate for women’s health. Jaclyn plans to pursue a career focused on reproductive justice and the expansion of sexual health services, and Planned Parenthood has been an invaluable starting point in that journey. She will undertake a joint Master’s degree in Public Health and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies at the Ohio State University in the fall of 2015.
