Travel Grants

Queer Places, Practices, and Lives II (May 16-17, 2014) is pleased to offer 10 travel grants of up to $200 each for conference presenters whose papers have been officially accepted for the program. Priority will be given to undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, independent scholars, and activists/community organizers who have no institutional support for conference travel. To apply, please send the following to
  1. Name, affiliation (your college or university, independent scholar, etc), status (e.g., undergraduate student, graduate student, community organizer), title of paper you are presenting at the conference, email address.
  2. An itemized budget for QPPL conference travel. Please provide specific amounts as far as possible—for example, airfare rate on a site such as Expedia or CheapTickets, roundtrip mileage if you are driving (reimbursement is $0.565 per mile), nightly lodging rate at the Columbus hotel in which you plan to stay, etc.
  3. An explanation of need, which should include information about the institutional lack of resources for your conference travel (for example, if your university provides travel grants for student researchers, why these are unavailable to you; or if your department offers funding to students for travel, why you do not have access to these funds or what you have already used them for).

Deadline: Monday, March 31, 2014.

Awards will be in the form of $200 reimbursement after travel has been completed.
